they put great emphasis on personal liberties and freedom but political polarization has been getting worse and worse (still not as bad as it was during the 60s-70s though)

drug lords have control over the country, the war on drugs has been an absolute failure, journalists get killed for exposing their crimes, even students have been massacred for protesting against the cartels

1. i spare your life
2. fair
3. yes indeed, i want to go there when i am
4. you will die
jokes asides, i wish i could say otherwise but brazil is really summed up with those two titles. rio de janeiro is a live example of that, and you can't seek peace even on rural areas because criminals realized that it's more efficient to rob them since they are distanced from any service like hospitals in case anyone is shot or the police
i have A LOT more to say about brazil but i dont think you'd be too interested on knowing. life is good if you can get more than 5k reais per month and you live in anywhere that isnt rio de janeiro though
i guess the suburbs would be the best place to be at in brazil
most places don't have suburbs, it's mainly favillas
but there is a very distinct approximation to that, streets in the middle of the city with pretty nice houses. crime is still pretty mild even on those areas though.
you mean favelas
googled it and they look like slums to me
ig I've maintained a bad impression of brazil ever since watching the city of god
i have watched city of god a long time ago, it is a bit realistic but at the same time out of proportions; and it's in rio de janeiro which already explains a lot about it.

2) using technology to build a surveillance state and their black-mirror-like social credit system
