i think you just left your computer (or some other device) to be turned on and someone just goes in and logging in your account (with the password automatic) as primary and there is no way to have a secure account but to only change the password to be much elusive and baffling to the individual that is using your account and as you see.. there is no 2-step-verification and no backup codes, of course, it sucks but sometimes in the future they'll implement this and you don't have to worry.
