it does redirect me but i just sit there at the page waiting for what never happens

The download button just shows the image not download because of the way that displaying images, sounds and videos work in HTML

just right click the image and do save image as to get it

you're supposed to right click the image and download it yourself

no i just thought downloading it was different from save clicking it in this specific instance
