Tip #1: GitHub Education
Are you a student at a school? I'm sure you are! You might be eligible for the GitHub Education program!
https://education.github.com/
With this program, you can get free website domain names and hosting, and also, a plethora of educational courses and resources, usually costing up to hundreds of dollars, for absolutley free! Wow!
You also get a GitHub Pro Membership for free while you are enrolled in this school! GitHub is an amazing website that allows users to collaborate and share code with each other!
Tip #2: Learn programming (html, php, etc.)
This one may seem obvious, but some users try and attempt to make a site by stealing code, or not even trying. Try and stay away from free website builders (Google Sites, Wix, Weebly, etc.) you won't be able to make a site to your full potential! Learning programming allows you to do great things, and, as I have stated earlier, the GitHub Education program has some really great courses for learning to code. I also enjoy using Khan Academy, and just looking up: "How to code this thing" in youtube.
Tip #3: Ask for help!
Many people try and develop something without any help! This can ultimatley lead to failure, especially if your programming skills aren't the best. Ask around, and see if your friends know how to code or are willing to help out with the site! Working with others allows you to make your site the best it can be, and test out how the site works with multiple users!
Tip #4: Look at the source code of open source projects!
Now before I continue with this tip, remember, stealing code is generally frowned upon in the programming community. Sites like github have millions of coding projects, all with their code for anyone to look at! Wether you modify peoples code to learn or just enjoy reading people's code, and seeing what they do, github is a great place to look!
I hope these tips help you develop a great website!
